To supplement the lessons taught in the Ctrl+P Activity Book Series, the founder of the Ctrl+ project conducted an analogous teaching program to ensure that the lessons discussed in the activity books were adopted effectively and efficiently. A total six teaching sessions were conducted: with two sessions spent focusing on each program between Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel. This, in addition to targeted skill-building activities relevant to each program including but not limited to a CV building session for Microsoft Word, pitch-deck design sessions for Microsoft Powerpoint, and basic formula administration for Microsoft Excel. The lessons learned as part of the Ctrl+Y teaching sessions would go on to form the corpus of material students were tested on as part of the Ctrl+B Hackathon.
To ensure the successful adoption of the material taught as part of the Ctrl+P Activity Books and the Ctrl+Y Teaching Program, the founders of Ctrl+ conducted a concluding session where students were tested on these topics in a controlled, timed environment. Featuring tasks where students are required to fill in and proofread information on Microsoft Word, designing a presentation on Microsoft Powerpoint, and a data entry task on Microsoft Excel; students had the opportunity to display their understanding of foundational topics related to digital literacy and employability. Upon the completion of the Hackathon, students were awarded certificates for their participation in the Hackathon, along with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place certificates being awarded for each program’s activity.
In January 2024, and to facilitate the continued practice and adoption of the lessons taught throughout the project, Ctrl+ organized a large-scale online fundraiser with the goal of augmenting Hamari Pahchan’s technological infrastructure. With a goal amount of INR 1.5L ($1787), the Ctrl+K Donation aims to transform access to critical digital resources at the NGO partner’s premises to bolster students’ technological skills in a rapidly digitized environment.
